MId-Bega 2016

Mid-Season Print PDF

During two months of Bega (October and November) 2016, parts of western, southern and eastern Oromia, western Amhara, western Tigray, Benshangul-Gumuz, Gambela , SNNPR and central Somali received normal to above normal rainfall. The rest parts of the nation exhibited below normal rainfall.

In the upcoming two months of the Bega season, weak La-nina condition means negative sea surface temperature is anticipated to prevail over Tropical Pacific, and also the Indian Ocean will have normal SST as issued by model forecasts. In association with this, occasional rain is expected over few places. Otherwise the dry air will dominate most parts of the country, which as a result intensify the night time and early morning cold air, particularly over frost prone high grounds of the country.
